Tell Your Tale
EXPLORING TRAUMA AND RESILIENCE THROUGH VISUAL STORYTELLING
We will explore visual storytelling using THE GIVING TREE by Shel Silverstein combined with the artwork of Paul Klee.
- Participants will be asked to create a diary/notebook using artwork, symbolic imagery, figurative language, and code. The book will be personalized and focus on memories, resilience, hopes, dreams, and emergence from the pandemic.
- Participants will then create their own Paul Klee style artwork.

Theatre and Common Core State Standards
Using movement, improvisation, scene study, and discussion; participants will explore this question: What is your American Dream? Primary source documents will include: a scene from Death of a Salesman, Langston Hughes poem “A Dream Deferred,” articles written when the play was first produced, and current articles on jobs of the future. Music from the period will also be used.

Story Dramatization
Using discussion, storyboarding, tableau, improvisation and pantomime; participants will transform a story into a piece of theatre. Music and basic props will be used.
